JAMESBURG A two-car traffic accident caused a power outage along Buckelew Avenue on Thursday, police said.
Police Chief David Lester said Matthew Adackadara, 64, of Monroe, was traveling east on Buckelew Avenue at about 1:03 p.m. in his Pontiac van when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the northbound lane of traffic and struck a utility pole on the shoulder of the westbound side of Buckelew Avenue near Forge Street.
After striking the pole, the van continued traveling east in the westbound lane until it struck a Chevy sedan driven by Dale Honnick, 73, of Sayreville, Chief Lester said.
A 70-year-old woman passenger in Mr. Honnick’s car suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported by the Jamesburg First Aid Squad to Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, Chief Lester said.
Chief Lester said there were no other injuries and that no citations had been issued pending the results of an investigation into the crash.
Repair crews from Jersey Central Power & Light were dispatched to repair the damaged utility pole, Chief Lester said, but power in the area had not been restored by The Cranbury Press’ midafternoon Thursday deadline.
