Princeton Memorial Day observance planned

May 28 event to include parade and ceremony.

   Princeton’s annual Memorial Day observances are scheduled for Saturday, May 28, with a parade at 10 a.m. and ceremony at 11 a.m., both sponsored by Spirit of Princeton.
   The parade will begin on Nassau Street at Princeton Avenue, continue past the reviewing stand at Palmer Square’s Tiger Park and end at the Princeton Battle Monument at Borough Hall, where the ceremony will be held.
   The parade will be led by the Princeton Borough Police Department and color guard, followed by the Princeton Township Police Department and color guard.
   Following will be the Colonial Musketeers Fife & Drum Corps, government officials, Pemberton High School Junior ROTC, American Legion posts 76 and 218, veterans, Trenton Central High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and MacGregor Pipe Band.
   Also in the parade will be the Princeton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Princeton-Pettoranello Sister City Foundation and Central Jersey Antique Car Club.
   Bands from Hightstown High School and Burlington City High School will march in the parade, as well as Steam Calliope.
   Numerous Scout troops will be represented, as well as the Princeton Soccer Association and Princeton Girls Softball Association. And there will be a patriotic bike brigade.
   The Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad and Princeton Fire Department will conclude the line of march.
   The events will be held rain or shine.
   Spirit of Princeton is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring civic pride and citizen involvement through sponsorship of the Memorial Day parade and ceremony; Flag Day on June 14; the July 4 fireworks, set this year for June 30; and Veterans Day on Nov. 11.
