West Windsor reshuffles township jobs

WEST WINDSOR — The Township Council introduced a salary and wage plan ordinance Monday that includes three renamed positions, a reinstated position and one new position.
Two of the renamed positions — human resources assistant and purchasing assistant — assign more specific job descriptions to township employees who assist the business administrator.
"I wanted positions in my office to be more focused," Business Administrator Chris Marion said. ‘The positions of human resources and purchasing assistants will make our department more efficient."
The position of assessment clerk III represents a change in that employee’s responsibilities, which now consist mainly of assisting the tax assessor.
The salary range for those three positions is between $30,321 and $46,781.
The proposed ordinance would also reinstate the position of assistant chief financial officer, which was eliminated about five years ago, according to Mr. Marion.
"This person will be directly responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the finance office," Mr. Marion said.
The assistant CFO’s salary would be between $56,440 and $87,228.
The new position created by the proposed ordinance is that of public works office manager.
That individual would provide administrative support in the areas of budgeting, purchasing, personnel services, special projects and residents’ complaints, according to Mr. Marion.
The public works office manager’s salary would range from $34,880 to $55,867.
The proposed ordinance provides for the administration of the salary and wage plan for all township employees in conjunction with the 2005 municipal budget.
A public hearing on the ordinance will be held June 6 at the municipal building.
