HOLMDEL — If you’re looking to satisfy a craving for authentic Italian food, look no farther than Route 34.
That is the location of Campobello’s Market and Catering, where patrons can pick up an Italian lunch, or cater a party with “home-cooked quality foods.”
“We wanted to provide a little taste of Italy to the Holmdel and Colts Neck area,” co-owner Frank D’Angelo said.
D’Angelo and his partner, John Bono, have been in the catering business for years and own and operate another location in the Jackson area.
Campobello’s offers everything from specialty meats and pastas to coffees and desserts. The market sells, among other things, imported pastas and olive oil, marinated meats, and prepared and raw foods, and the catering business offers everything from hero sandwiches to hot buffets.
The partners make everything on location by themselves to ensure the quality and taste of the food.
Customers looking to make an authentic Italian meal could easily find all of their ingredients in the marketplace. Brand names like La Feda and Devella Pasta are sold. Queen Ann ravioli and stuffed shells in various flavors are also among the products. Customers can also purchase pints and quarts of different sauces that are made on location by the owners.
For dessert, customers can indulge in Aunt Butchie’s pies, which are baked fresh at the store. Customers can also purchase Aunt Butchie’s semifreddo dessert cups and cakes.
The store also has a deli where customers can buy marinated chicken and meat.
Those looking for a prepared lunch can choose from various salads like cavatelli with broccoli or ravioletti salad. Customers can also opt for a hot lunch like chicken parmigiana or penne with vodka sauce.
The catering menu includes hot and cold appetizers, cheese platters, grilled vegetable platters, cold cut platters, a hot buffet and desserts.
Some of their specialties are rice balls, stuffed mushrooms and eggplant rollatini. The catering menu offers chicken dishes such as Marsala, honey mustard, and cacciatore. They also offer pork, veal, beef and seafood.
They also make specialty baskets, such as fruit or grocery baskets that are customized to fit the customer’s individual needs.
Campobello’s is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call (732) 946-3060.
