Ruth A. Voisine
Mrs. Voisine, 65, of Howell, died May 17 at Kensington Manor, Toms River. Born in Neptune Township, she was raised in the Morganville section of Marlboro. She had resided in Howell for the past 30 years and was a member of Ardena Baptist Church, Howell. Prior to retiring in December, she was a school bus driver for the Freehold Regional High School District for 31 years. Mrs. Voisine was predeceased in 1997 by her husband, Clayton J. Voisine. Surviving are two sons, Clayton J. Voisine Jr. of Beach Haven and William J. Voisine of Toms River; two daughters, Linda Gordon of Jackson and Tracey Evans of Texas; two brothers, Peter Hayes of Florida and Rodney Hayes of Sea Bright; two sisters, Helen Bousquit of Connecticut and Janet Rupp of Howell; and nine grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold. Graveside services were at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
Maxine Andrea Shell
Mrs. Shell, 57, of Freehold, died May 19 at New York University Medical Center, New York City. Born and raised in Passaic, she had lived in Freehold for the past 27 years. A 1970 graduate of The Ohio State University, Columbus, she earned a bachelor of arts degree in education and was employed by the Freehold Regional High School District for 25 years as an English teacher and a substitute teacher. Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Steven Shell; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ari and Allison Shell of Canton, Conn., and Martin Shell of New York City and his girlfriend, Melissa Fisher. Funeral services were held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, followed by interment at Congregation Agudath Achim Cemetery, Freehold.
Harold H. Rose
Mr. Rose, 80, of Freehold Township, died May 20 at home. Born in Stonington, Conn., he had lived in the Freehold area for the past 25 years. Prior to retiring in 1983, he was a metallurgist for Phelps Dodge Inc., New York City. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Colts Neck, where he served for many years as an usher for Saturday evening Masses. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council, Spotswood. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Veronica Walencis Rose; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Ann Arlene of Freehold Township; a brother, Billy Rose of Arizona; three sisters, Phyllis of Illinois, Jean of Rhode Island and Joan of California; and two grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Church, followed by entombment at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum, Marlboro. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Harold Robert Brown
Mr. Brown, who was known as “Bobby” and “Chico,” died May 22 at Applegarth Care Center, Monroe. Born in Neptune Township, he had lived in Freehold all his life. A graduate of Court Street School and Freehold High School, both in Freehold Borough, he was a postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service, Freehold, for 13 years. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was predeceased by his father, Ernest Brown; three brothers, Leonard, Ernest and Lawrence Brown; and two sisters, Patricia and Anne. Surviving are a son, Eric, of Englishtown; his mother, Vivian Ruffin Brown; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Constance Brown of Freehold; an uncle, Stewart Ruffin; an aunt, Geraldine Williams; a close friend, Willie Mae Jones of East Windsor; and many nieces, nephews and other friends. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
Kenneth John Jacobsen
Mr. Jacobsen, 60, of Jackson, died May 22 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had resided in Staten Island, N.Y., and in Manalapan for 16 years before moving to Jackson four months ago. He was employed by St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, as a computer supervisor. Mr. Jacobsen was a Vietnam War veteran. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Leona Memberg Jacobsen; a son, Erik Jacobsen of Lyndhurst; a daughter, Amy Jacobsen, at home; and a brother, Alfred Jacobsen of Manchester. A funeral service was held at Marlboro Memorial Mausoleum, with Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, in charge of arrangements.
