The Hillsborough High girls are moving on in the state lacrosse playoffs.
Hillsborough (20-1) bounced back from a 4-2 deficit and held on for an exciting 9-8 victory over Ridge Friday, the team’s second one-goal victory over the Red Devils in tournament action this season. The victory also avenged Hillsborough’s loss to Ridge in last year’s playoffs.
Junior Ali DeLuca netted her fourth goal of the game with 5:37 remaining to give the Raiders an 8-7 lead. Senior Kristen Watts made it 9-7 with just under four minutes left and the Raider defense did the rest.
DeLuca’s sister, Krystina, scored twice for the Raiders. Caitlyn Glowacki and Liz Tafaro added goals for the winners, who have won 20 consecutive games.
The third-seeded Raiders will travel to second-ranked West Morris Central in Tuesday’s North A semifinals.
