Judith A. Ferguson, who has been serving as acting superintendent of Hopewell Valley schools since March 1, is expected to be tapped as the regional district’s permanent superintendent at a special meeting Wednesday night.
At a 7 p.m. session, the Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education has plans to vote on a four-year contract with Dr. Ferguson. The contact is expected to include an initial salary of $166,700.
This announcement was made Tuesday morning by school board President Kim Newport.
Ms. Newport said the board has been "impressed with her skillful handling of a challenging budget and her strong leadership on a wide variety of district issues."
"We knew within a month that Dr. Ferguson was a perfect fit for us," said Ms. Newport. "She got up to speed very quickly on a number of complex matters and has provided the district with much-needed stability and direction. She brings a set of skills to our district that is just what we think we will need over the next several years."
Dr. Ferguson took over March 1 for former Superintendent Nick Lorenzetti, who resigned in January.
Dr. Ferguson, who previously served as interim superintendent in South Brunswick and Lawrence townships, was tapped as Hopewell Valley’s acting superintendent in February. Her contract for that position was to have run through October.
The Wednesday meeting will be held in the Board Meeting Room, 425 S. Main St., Pennington.
