HILLSBOROUGH John J. Kichura died May 27 in Summerville Assisted Living in Hillsborough. He was 87.
Born in New York City, New York, he lived in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, N.Y., for many years before moving to Belle Mead seven years ago.
Mr. Kichura worked as an insurance adjuster for the Home Insurance Company in New York City for 27 years before retiring in 1987.
He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945 in the Pacific Theater and received the American Defense Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a former member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in New York City. He is a communicant of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough.
His wife, Helen Kichura, died in 1993.
Survivors include three sons, Edward L. of South Windsor, Conn., Jack of Belle Mead, and Ronald M. of Eagle River, Alaska; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 8:45 a.m. today from the Ketusky Funeral Home in Manville, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Divine Liturgy at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
