Seniors group is proud to support area’s students

Senior citizens are often criticized for not being supportive of Board of Education budgets and students. Not so in Rossmoor, an active adult community.

On May 25, at the awards program at Monroe Township High School, the Women’s Guild of the Rossmoor Community Church gave 10 scholarships of $1,000 each to deserving seniors. The week before, the Guild honored the winners at a luncheon where the women had a chance to meet the students and learn how they would use the scholarship money at the college of their choice.

Over the years, the Women’s Guild of the Rossmoor Community Church has given approximately $350,000 in scholarships to local students. The money is earned primarily through its annual bazaar held the first Saturday in November. Although the Guild is attached to the Community Church, there are also Catholic and Jewish women and men who make items and work at the bazaar to benefit the students in Monroe Township.

We are proud of our work and have pledged our dedication to helping the future leaders of our town, county and country.
