Event at Whole Foods June 13 to benefit COA

Whole Foods Market, Chapel Hill Shopping Center, Route 35, Middletown, will host an “Almost-Open Party” June 13 from 6-9 p.m. to benefit Clean Ocean Action (COA).

Tickets are $20, with the price matched by Whole Foods (up to $25,000), and 100 percent of donations benefiting Clean Ocean Action. The event will feature entertainment, hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

Personal watercraft course June 11, 12

Local church group to

perform gospel music

The praise team from Hope Presbyterian Church, Tinton Falls, will perform a gospel music program June 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ocean Grove boardwalk pavilion. The free program is sponsored by the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting. For details, call (732) 775-0035.

Registration open for YMCA summer leagues

The Community YMCA of Red Bank has announced several summer programs open to adults and children.

The YMCA is looking for teams to participate in its 3-on-3 basketball tournaments that will take place on Fridays during the summer.

The age for participation ranges from 10 years to adults. There is a team fee of $150, which includes T-shirts, officials, scorekeepers and prizes for first place.

There will also be adult and youth outdoor roller hockey leagues, starting in June.

League play for those 18 and older will take place on Wednesday nights, and people may sign up as individuals or as team members.

The team fee is $575 and the individual fee is $65.

Adult league play starts on June 29, and the youth league will begin on June 27.

The youth roller hockey team will take place on Monday and Thursday nights for ages 9 and 10, and ages 11 and 12 will play on Tuesday and Friday nights. The team fee is $475.

Fair Haven church to host Day of Reflection

The Church of the Nativity, Hance and Ridge roads, Fair Haven, will host “A Day of Reflection on the Year of the Eucharist” June 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is presented by the Healing Shepherd Prayer Group and will begin with a Mass, followed by discussions about the Eucharist and a brown-bag lunch. The Rev. Pio Mandato and Sister Theresa May will be the guest speakers. Following lunch, there will be talks on adoration, confession and the Eucharist, followed by a silent anointing of all individuals present, and benediction.

Monmouth Conservatory presents last recital

The Monmouth Conservatory of Music will present its last Student Recital of the school year on Saturday, June 11, at the Red Bank Middle School Auditorium, Branch Avenue and Harding Road.

From 1 p.m., students of all levels from beginner through advanced will perform on various instruments and voice. At 4 p.m., there will be a special performance of music by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, Grieg, and Rachmaninoff, performed on piano by Otey and Brian Register, Middletown.

The brothers are two of the Conservatory’s 2005 recipients of Frank & Lydia Bergen Foundation and Eleanor Kahn Memorial merit scholarships. The public is invited to attend. There is no admission charge.
