A “Help Corey Conquer Cancer” Basketball Jamboree will be held June 17 from 6 to 10 p.m. and June 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Churchill Junior High School, Norton Road. The tournament will feature eight teams of fifth- and sixth-graders playing in a round-robin format. The event will also feature prizes, 50/50s, sports memorabilia, refreshments, a chance to win a 2005 Pontiac, and a dance performance by the First Position School of Dance. The Monroe Township Hoops Association is sponsoring its second annual golf outing on Aug. 2 at Concordia Golf Course. The cost is

The Central Jersey Hot Shots U16 girls travel soccer team is looking for dedicated and serious players to join their team next season when they play as a U17 team.
The team is comprised of many talented high school players from Middlesex, Hunterdon and Union counties. The team plays in the Maps league and competes in many premier tournaments each spring season. The team practices at Vo-Tech school on Rues Lane in East Brunswick.

A Summer Wrestling Camp, facilitated by three-time USA wrestling champion Rick Dellagatta and other featured instructors, will be held at the Monroe Community Center on June 22, 23 and 24. Grades two through five will go from 3:30-5 p.m.; grades six through eight from 5:15-6:45 p.m.; and grades nine through 12 from 7-9 p.m. The camp is for novice and experienced wrestlers, both male and female. There is no charge for the camp as it is sponsored by the Monroe Teen Awareness Program.

The following are the may 29 results from the Monroe Recreation Golf League, which is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Clearbrook Golf Course. The nine-hole low gross was recorded by Pete Delgado with a 45, while the low net went to Jeff Powell with a 40. The Fourth and Goal Football Camp will be held at Danny Ryan Football Field in Monroe on July 11-14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The morning session is for ages 7-15, and the cost is $130. A special skills clinic is an additional $30. The high school session will run from 4-8 p.m. for grades nine through 12 and costs $110. All campers receive a T-shirt, and should bring water and lunch. This is a noncontact camp. Sneakers and rubber cleats are recommended. The Spotswood Soccer Club will hold travel tryouts for the fall season. All boys and girls born between August 1, 1992, and July 31, 1998, are eligible. Teams will be formed in multiple age groups if there are enough players and coaches. The tryouts will be held at the Spotswood High School Soccer Fields. All interested players must attend at least one tryout. The tryouts will be on Friday, June 10 at 6 p.m. Either a parent or legal guardian must accompany all participants. A World Cup Soccer Camp, sponsored by South River Recreation, will be held from July 18-22. Ages 8-15 ($75) will be from 9 a.m.-noon, with ages 5-7 ($70) from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Fee includes T-shirt, trophy and evaluation. Camp is open to residents and non-residents, and will be coached by South River varsity staff. Players are required to bring an inflated soccer ball (size 4 or 5), something to drink, and proper equipment (cleats, shin guards, short, shirt, etc.) Parents must bring a check with them. Cost is $65 for East Brunswick residents, $75 for out-of-town players. This registration check, made out to EBSC, will be collected on June 13. Parents of children that do not subsequently play for an East Brunswick soccer team will have their check reimbursed to them.
