Jeffrey A. Newman, an Ocean Township resident, has been appointed acting clerk of the Appellate Division of state Superior Court.
Presiding Judge for Administration Edwin H. Stern announced the appointment.
As acting clerk of the division, Newman will provide support to Appellate Division judges and their staffs located throughout the state and administer the operations of the Clerk’s Office in Trenton.
In addition to serving as acting clerk, Newman will continue to oversee administrative services, including court reporting, managing the court’s automated systems and maintaining the judiciary’s videoconferencing network.
A certified public manager, Newman joined the judiciary in 1986 and has served as deputy clerk of the Appellate Division since 2001. Newman has served on numerous judiciary committees and has been instrumental in the recent implementation of webcasting of Supreme Court arguments on the judiciary Web site.
