LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood BlueClaws will hit another milestone as the team continues its fifth anniversary season, welcoming the 2 millionth fan to FirstEnergy Park on June 22. Gates will open at 6 p.m. prior to the 7:05 p.m. first pitch. The BlueClaws will surpass the mark faster than any other team in New Jersey professional baseball and South Atlantic League team history, according to a press release.
The 2 millionth fan will receive a number of prizes and honors for being the lucky patron through the turnstiles.
The prize package will include: four season tickets for 2006; a BlueClaws jersey with “2 millionth fan” on the back, a set of four Phillies tickets to a future game, a BlueClaws team dugout jacket, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, a team autographed bat, a guest radio interview during the game, a picnic (30 people) for a date later in the season, a BlueClaws fan package and a team autographed ball.
“This is another big mark for us and we owe everything to the community that continues to come to the ballpark,” General Manager Geoff Brown said. “Next Wednesday night and the entire homestand will be great no matter if you’re the winner or coming to the game for the first time.”
The BlueClaws will begin the homestand on June 21 at 7:05 p.m. with an appearance by the ZOOperstars presented by Kimball Medical Center and an additional fireworks show has been added following that game courtesy of Toyota World of Lakewood/Scion World of Lakewood.
On June 22, not only will the 2 millionth fan pass through the turnstiles, but the first 2,000 fans 18 years old and over will receive a T-shirt courtesy of InVision Eye Care.
The BlueClaws will hit the two million fan attendance mark in the 300th opening of FirstEnergy Park. To date the BlueClaws have averaged 6,675 fans per game, which is 101 percent capacity through the first four-and-a-half years of baseball at the Jersey Shore.
