BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP

Police charged a 21-year-old Trenton man with obstructing justice, hindering his own apprehension and possession of fraudulent documents after an investigation into an accident led police into the City of Trenton on June 10.
According to police, officers investigating a hit-and-run accident on Carmen Avenue went to Trenton to talk to the registered owner of the car suspected to have caused the accident. Police said a man came to the police station to report that another car had hit his own while he was driving along Carmen Avenue. The man had given officers a license plate number and a description of the driver, which led police to Trenton, police said.
In Trenton, police said, officers found a man presenting a resident alien card who gave police a false name, and said he worked at 84 Lumber on Route 130 in Bordentown.
Officers checking the information discovered that the name was fake, but their description of the suspect fit that of Eduardo Mendez who worked at 84 Lumber.
Police charged Mr. Mendez at 2:42 p.m., June 10. He was taken to the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
