MARLBORO — Brian J. Borden, 18, received Scouting’s highest rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor held April 10 at the Old Brick Reformed Church, Route 520. Old Brick Reformed Church sponsors Troop 86, which has been in existence for 56 years.
Brian is the son of Debbie and John Borden. He started in Scouting as a Tiger Scout 11 years ago with Marlboro Pack 86 and earned his Arrow of Light in the fifth grade. He crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 86 and has been with Troop 86 for seven years.
To achieve the rank of Eagle, Brian earned 24 merit badges and completed a service project in which he installed brick paver walks leading to the existing gazebo and arranging shrubs on the grounds of the Marlboro Recreation Community Center. Brian designed and supervised the project which logged 800 hours of service time with family, friends and troop members. A total of 750 square feet of paver bricks were installed.
Brian is a Brotherhood member of Nat Tsi Hi Lodge No. 71 (Order of the Arrow). He has attended the Junior Leader Training Week Program. Brian is a member of St. Gabriel’s CYO and also an altar server. He is a member of the Marlboro Fire Company.
