To the editor:
On behalf of the South Brunswick Girl Scouts, I would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s South Brunswick Girl Scout Flag Day Bike Parade a success.
First, I would like to thank South Brunswick Police Auxiliary officer Mark Young, for his assistance in directing traffic and for running the bicycle workshop. At the workshop, Officer Young taught girl scouts and their siblings why wearing a helmet is important, conducted a bicycle safety check (reflectors, brakes, etc.) and with an obstacle course, taught road safety, such as hand signals, and riding with traffic.
Second, I would like to thank Stop&Shop for its generous donation, which enabled us to hold our Flag Day Bike Parade with such success. It might not have been possible without its assistance.
Third, I would like to thank South Brunswick Girl Scout Service Unit Director Lissa Izzo for all her help and for speaking to the girls and their families about community service, patriotism and girl scouting.
I would also like to thank Girl Scout Troop 1302 for leading us in song and for running our game stations of potato sack races and water balloon toss. Thanks also to Troop 1205 for helping with the crafts.
Finally, I would like to give a great big thank you to Chuck and Rhonda Epplesheimer and Girl Scout Troop 353 for their invaluable assistance. Troop 353 performed the Flag ceremony and helped Officer Young with the bicycle safety workshop. Chuck Epplesheimer ran the kitchen while Rhonda served food and took lots of pictures. Without their help there would not have been a Flag Day Bike Parade.
Lest I forget, I give a big hug to my family for all their help and support in making this a fun day for everyone who came.
