Howell Soccer Club is now accepting registrations for recreational soccer for the fall season. They will be holding in-person registration on July 1 at the Oak Glen Snack Stand from 6-8:30 p.m. Forms can also be downloaded at www.howellsoccerclub.com and mailing it to Howell Soccer Club, PO Box 222, Howell, NJ 07731. Early bird registration until July 1; the fee is $40 for one child, $75 for two children and $105 for a family. Registrations postmarked after July 1, the fee is $50 for one child, $85 for two children and $115 for a family. No mail will be

The MetroStars development programs will be offering summer camp program at Patriot’s Park in Jackson from July 11-15 for ages 7-16. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will cost $155. The equipment included is a T-shirt and a ball.

Taking first with a score of 65 was the team of John Lukasik, Ed Moran, Fred Sardo and Richard Audet, followed by Joe Leva, Richard Bilenker, Walter Schaefer and John Cacciatore (67); Manny Rice, John Liao, Doug Watkins and Eugene Scatano (68); and Fred Schwartz, John Dellalana, Larry Sposi and Paul Yuhas (68).
The B Flight was won by Joe Vitta (plus-11), followed by Dave Shea (plus-6), Len Tafro (plus-5), and Ron Larkmin (plus-5).
Roger Van Hise won the C Flight with a plus-9, followed by Phil Primak (plus-7), Frank Jacene (plus-7) and Mike DiSilvestro (plus-4).
Lakewood Mayor Charles Cunliffe announced Lakewood Recreation is sponsoring free one-hour weekly tennis instruction for Lakewood children ages 8 to 16 commencing June 28 to Aug. 3 at the Pine Park tennis courts. Lakewood Parks and Recreation Advisory Board liaison Meir Lichtenstein announced that Lakewood Recreation is sponsoring a Youth Track Program under the direction of varsity track coach Nancy Kwicinski for boys and girls ages groups: 6-13. The program will be held at the Lakewood High School Outdoor Track on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m., July 5 to July 28. Participants will gain a basic knowledge of all track events and compete in a minitrack meet. Registration will be held on July 5, 5:30 p.m. at the track.

Olympic Gold Medalist Christie Rampone and MetroStars defender Jason Hernandez are coming to FirstEnergy Park. Rampone and Hernandez will be at FirstEnergy Park on Wednesday, June 22, courtesy of Good Sports and The Soccer Post.
Rampone, of Point Pleasant, was on the women’s soccer team that won an Olympic Gold Medal in Athens in 2004. Rampone was also a member of the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team that won the World Cup in 1999. Now a defender on the U.S. National team, Rampone played forward in college for Monmouth University.
Hernandez, originally from Englewood, played collegiate soccer at Seton Hall University. Before joining the MetroStars for this season. Hernandez was one of the team captains in 2004 for Seton Hall and named to the All-Big East second team.
“We are really excited to have two local soccer stars coming out to the park,” BlueClaws general manager Geoff Brown said. “Soccer is a popular sport and we are sure there will be a lot of kids that will want to meet these two local stars.”
