Police are seeking a man who reportedly posed as a township employee in order to lure Grover Street resident outdoors while an accomplice stole $6,700 worth of cash and jewelry from inside the house on June 7.
According to police, a man saying he would remove some debris from the resident’s yard led the resident around the back of the house some time between 3 and 4 p.m. that day. Once around back, police said, the phony township employee received several calls on his cell phone that police believe were signals from the man burgling the house.
Police have only a vague description of the man posing as a township worker: white, medium build, average height and in his early to mid-20s. There is no description of the man who entered the house. Police are investigating and warn residents of the scam, which they say is a common one in the summer. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (609) 298-4300.
