Plein air painters exhibit at guild

“Monmouth Beach” by Donna Basa “Monmouth Beach” by Donna Basa “Color and Light,” an exhibit of works by the Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast, has opened at the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury.

The Plein Air Painters come from different areas of the state and meet to paint together in their own unique styles and mediums.

The paintings they create in the open air are part of the American Impressionist movement, which is currently an important part of the world of painting and collecting, according to a press release from the Guild of Creative Art. The group was formed a year ago by Judy Stach, of Little Silver, and membership has grown to more than 35 painters.

The exhibit at the guild will run through Aug. 31.
