Daniel J. Messina, Ph.D., senior vice president and chief operating officer at CentraState Healthcare System, Freehold Township, has been awarded a doctoral degree in health sciences/health care leadership from Seton Hall University. Messina has worked in health care for 29 years, including the past four with CentraState. He also has a master of public administration degree in health care administration from Long Island University and C.W. Post College, Greenvale, N.Y. Messina also serves as an adjunct professor in health care administration at Seton Hall University. He is a resident of Staten Island, N.Y.
Schoor DePalma, an engineering and consulting firm based in Manalapan, announced that David Roberts has been promoted to manager for the firm’s Community and Regional Planning Department.
With more than 24 years of experience in the public and private sectors, Roberts has been with Schoor DePalma since 1995. He is currently a vice president with the firm and previously held the position of senior project manager. He is a licensed professional planner, certified landscape architect, and provides planning and landscape architectural services to municipalities and private clients throughout the tri-state region.
He created and teaches the “Principles of Redevelopment” course for the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs as part of the mandatory training program for redevelopment agency commissioners and executive directors, and recently co-authored “The Redevelop-ment Handbook: A Guide for Rebuilding New Jersey’s Communities,” published and released by NJDCA in 2003.
Schoor DePalma Inc., Manalapan, recently announced it has secured more than $5.6 million in grants and loans for public-sector clients in New Jersey seeking to preserve open space land and outdoor recreation opportunities. Green Acres funding is awarded in two categories — grants for land acquisition projects and for densely populated development applications, and loans for the development of open space for passive and active recreation projects.
Cheryl Goode of Freehold has been tapped to serve as branch manager of the town’s new branch of OceanFirst Bank. A Freehold native, Goode is a member of the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce and the Optimist Club of Freehold. She also works on a community housing project and serves as a youth mentor for the YMCA of Western Mon-mouth county. She joined OceanFirst in 1991 as a teller and later went on to become a customer service representative, after which she was promoted to assistant branch manager at OceanFirst’s Spring Lake office.
Second Language Literacy and Learning Connection, a new company to the central New Jersey area, offers various language programs to all age groups. The school guides “students” through the process of wine making, from crushing and pressing fresh wine grapes to racking oak barrels and bottling the wine.
The Aug. 23 event will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and will provide participants with the opportunity to meet the staff of wine makers and learn more about the process of producing private-label wine at about $7 a bottle. Jill Schiff of Freehold, membership services director of Building Contractors Association of New Jersey, has been appointed chairperson of the Planning Committee of the 2006 Eastern Seaboard Apprenticeship Conference. The five-day conference will be hosted by New Jersey at Bally’s Atlantic City in June 2006.
A 15-year veteran at BCANJ, Schiff is responsible for workforce development, handling education issues and facilitating association programs, all functions that will enhance her ability to guide the ESAC Planning Committee.
Mike Antenucci, an Allstate agent in the Morganville section of Marlboro, has achieved the Honor Ring award. He was recognized by Allstate Insurance Co. for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and profitability. He also was a top salesman in auto, property, business and financial services products in 2004.
For more than 40 years, the Honor Ring award has been Allstate’s symbol of outstanding achievement. Antenucci will be recognized by local and regional management at a banquet to be held in his honor.
