Richard S. Lloyd

Mr. Lloyd, 73, of Aberdeen, died Aug. 13 at home. Born in East Orange, he resided there and in Union Beach before moving to Aberdeen 44 years ago. Before his retirement, he was a dock builder with Dock Builders Union Local No. 1456 in New York City and in New Jersey. Mr. Lloyd served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. He was a member of the Union Beach American Legion, and the Keyport Elks. Mr. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen A. Lloyd, in 2000. He is survived by two sons, Kenneth Lloyd of Howell and Jeffrey M. Lloyd of Aberdeen; a daughter, Kathleen P. Varela of Texas; a brother, Ken Lloyd of Berkeley Township; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will take place Aug. 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict’s Church, followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

Harry Smith

Mr. Smith, 74, of Aberdeen, died Aug. 14 at CentraState Hospital, Freehold. Born in Keyport, he was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen. He was a caster at Woodbridge Sanitary Pottery, retiring in 2001. He was also currently employed at Casola’s Farm, Colts Neck, the past 10 years. He served as a Corporal with the U.S. Army in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. He sold items at the Englishtown Auction the past 25 years. He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Smith. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Wolcott Smith of Aberdeen; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene T. and Charles Smith Lepley of Aberdeen; a son and daughter-in-law, Harry M. and Judy Smith of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen; a brother, George Smith of Aberdeen; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Aug. 18 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A funeral service will be Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Theodore Matusewski

Mr. Matusewski, 56, of South Amboy, died Aug. 10 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born in South Amboy, he was a lifelong resident of South Amboy. He was predeceased by a brother, Alexander Matusewski; and a sister, Lois Brzezinski. He is survived by a brother, Joseph Matusewski of Holmdel; and a nephew and his wife, Robert and Teri Brzezinski of South Amboy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Aug. 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Arrangements are by The Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy.

Barbara Stankowitz Reyes

Mrs. Reyes, 64, of Aberdeen, died Aug. 9 at Victoria House, Aberdeen. Born in Piscataway, she resided in Old Bridge prior to moving to Aberdeen two months ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Old Bridge Baptist Church, East Brunswick. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Stankowitz in 1996, and her second husband, John Reyes in 1990. She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Anthony and Terri Stankowitz of Monroe Township, Robert Stankowitz of Old Bridge, and John Reyes of South Amboy; three daughters, Sandra Forgione of Bedminster, Tina Stankowitz of South Amboy, and Jessica Reyes of South Amboy; three brothers, Raymond Goddard of Sayreville, William Goddard of Plainfield, and Robert Goddard of Independence, Va.; two sisters, Carol Grunden of Freehold, and Helen Dill of Holmdel; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Edward L. Pease

Mr. Pease, 74, of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, died Aug. 14 at home. Born in Middletown, he had been a resident of West Keansburg for the past 37 years. Mr. Pease was a materials handler at International Flavors and Fragrances, Union Beach, and M&T Chemicals, Matawan, retiring in 1997. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 4303, Hazlet. Mr. Pease was predeceased by his wife, Patricia A. Massey Pease, in 1997; and five brothers. He is survived by five daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen Angelinovich of Freehold, Tammy Pease of West Keansburg, Debbie and Don Leidy of Matawan, Bernadette Linde of Florida, and Maureen and Steve Roth of Florida; a son, Edward Pease Jr. of Union Beach; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation will take place Aug. 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A funeral service will be held Aug. 18 at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

Irene T. Cerra

Mrs. Cerra, 70, of Wall Township, died Aug. 13 at her home. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., she had lived in Freehold and Sea Girt for many years before moving to Wall Township six years ago. Mrs. Cerra was a homemaker. She was a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, New York City. She was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake, and a past president of the Sea Girt Woman’s Club. Mrs. Cerra was predeceased by her husband, Vincent J. Cerra Jr., in 1993; a daughter, Mary Jeanne Cerra, earlier this year; and two brothers, William and Thomas Toye. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent J. III and Kim Cerra of Keyport; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lucy A. and Gerald Melillo of Manalapan, Patricia Cerra of Florida, and Irene and Joseph Kerber of Neptune City; a sister, Frances Sloane of Monmouth Beach; and 13 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake, followed by burial at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan. The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township, was in charge of arrangements.
