Maria Houlis
   
Maria Houlis died Friday at St. Joseph’s Care Center in Lawrence. She was 97.
   Born in Greece, she had lived in the Lawrence area since 1977.
   She worked in the restaurant business in Newark.
   She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Hamilton for many years.
   Daughter of the late John and Anna Kontogianis and wife of the late James Houlis, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Inese Houlis of Short Hills; daughter Anna Sinnis of Pennington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Galatea and James Mooney, and Barbara and Peter Karapelou of White Hall, Pa.; two sisters in Greece; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   The funeral was held Tuesday at St. George Orthodox Church, Hamilton. Burial will be in the Rosedale Park Cemetery, Orange.
   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619.
Alice T. Canning
   
PRINCETON — Alice T. Canning of Princeton died Friday at University Medical Center at Princeton. She was 71.
   Born in Paterson, she graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hackensack and attended Bergen Junior College and the New York School of Interior Design.
   She was the founder more than 20 years ago of Canning’s Ideal Tile Co. in Lawrence.
   She enjoyed playing tennis, golf and bridge, as well as interior home decorating.
   Daughter of the late Frank and Anna Canning, sister to the late Ellen P. Fagan, she is survived by her children, Elizabeth, John and Thomas Canning, all of Princeton, and Christopher Canning of Robbinsville; and former husband John R. D’Aiuto of Knoxville, Tenn.
   A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Queenship of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Dey Road, Plainsboro.
   Interment will be private.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 601 N. Clinton Ave., Trenton, NJ 08638.

Frank J. Cosentino
   
PRINCETON — Frank J. Cosentino, of Princeton died Aug. 9 at home following a six-month battle with multiple myeloma. He was 71.
   Born in Sparkill, N.Y., he was a longtime area resident.
   Mr. Cosentino was the former president of Edward Marshall Boehm Inc. and its subsidiaries, Boehm of Malvern, England and Boehm of Llandow, Wales. He retired in 1992.
   He joined Boehm in 1959 as executive assistant to founders Helen and Edward Marshall Boehm and was involved in all aspects of the Boehm Porcelain studio and traveled extensively presenting lecture programs and exhibits.
   He is the author of four books on the art of porcelain including a biography of Mr. Boehm.
   A graduate of Tappan Zee High School, he excelled in athletics and was first in academic studies in his class, president of the student body and valedictorian. He was elected to the Sportswriters Association to the all-county football, basketball and baseball teams in his junior and senior years and was the Rockland County junior golf champion and junior champion of the lower counties of New York State.
   He went on to Princeton University where he again excelled in sports, playing on the undefeated freshman football team and varsity team that won the Ivy League championship in 1956. He was also captain of the golf team and a member of Cannon Club. He graduated in 1956 and then spent two years in the Army with the Judge Advocate Office in Germany before joining Boehm.
   He was a former member of the Princeton Club of New York City and a member of the Hanover Golf Club and Barracuda Golf Club.
   Son of the late Rose and Frank Cosentino Sr., he is survived by his wife of 11 years, Nancy Holmes Cosentino; stepdaughters and stepson-in-law Reagan Hofmann of Ringoes and Tracy Hofmann Rosen and Josh Rosen of Santa Fe, N.M.; stepson Asher Rosen; daughter Laura Cosentino of Lawrence; brothers Bruno and Art Cosentino and sister Jean Cosentino Pagnozzi, all of Rockland County, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
   Private cremation services were held under the direction of Hartmann Memorial Home, Hamilton.
   A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced.
   Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Seymour Goldfarb
   
SOUTH BRUNSWICK — Seymour Goldfarb died Aug. 9 at home. He was 87.
   Born in Newark, he was a resident of Union before moving to the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick in 1995.
   Mr. Goldfarb was the owner of the Clinton Hobby Shop, Summit, a member of the South Brunswick Senior Center and the 50 Plus Club of North Brunswick. He was an avid fisherman, model ship builder, stamp and coin collector.
   Son of the late Samuel and Velle Josephson Goldfarb, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elaine Kanter Goldfarb; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Nancy Gold of Edison; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Edward Allen of Lawrence; two grandchildren, Jennifer Ruskuski and her husband Matthew, and Scott Gold.
   The funeral was Aug. 10 at the B’Nai Abraham Cemetery, Union.
   Shiva was observed Aug. 10-11 at the Goldfarb residence.
   Arrangements are under the direction of the Star of David Memorial Chapel of South Brunswick.
