School board member Michael Wilson has submitted his resignation from the Lawrence Township Board of Education, effective immediately. He turned in his letter of resignation Aug. 19.
Mr. Wilson cited increased professional responsibilities and demands for his consultative work as reasons for resigning. His term would have expired in April 2006. He has served on the school board since 2000.
Mr. Wilson teaches in the education and educational psychology department at Western Connecticut State University. He also is a consultant in educational assessment, curriculum building and teacher training.
School board President Laura Waters praised Mr. Wilson for his dedication in serving on the board. He served on the board’s Policy, Planning and Legislative Relations and Educational Program committees.
School district officials are seeking to fill the school board vacancy before the board’s monthly meeting Sept. 14. Applicants should submit a written letter indicating an interest in serving on the board, and a signed "affidavit of qualification" to be a member of the board.
The affidavit may be downloaded from the school district’s Web site — www.ltps.org — or requested in paper from Board Secretary Thomas Eldridge by calling (609) 671-5420, or by visiting the district Administration Building at 2565 Princeton Pike.
