‘Beef and Beer’ benefit
Friday, Sept. 2 A "Beef and Beer" event will be held at Wesley’s Pub, Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, at 7 p.m. and proceeds will benefit the Florence Township 9- and 10-year-old girls’ softball team which captured the Little League State Championship title.

High school orientation
Friday, Sept. 2 Bordentown Regional High School will conduct a freshman/senior orientation program at 7:35 a.m. in the school auditorium and gymnasium.
A program of welcome will be presented followed by the distribution of schedules and discussion of topics in the "Parent/Student Handbook."
Students will meet class advisors and guidance counselors. All freshmen and seniors will follow an abbreviated class schedule with dismissal planned for 11:50 a.m.
Historical walk
Saturday, Sept. 3 The Thomas Paine Society of Bordentown will hold its monthly historical walk "In the Footsteps of Thomas Paine in Bordentown." Participants should meet at the Thomas Paine historic site sign at the intersection of Farnsworth Avenue and West Church Street in Bordentown at 4 p.m.

Ballroom dancing
Sunday, Sept. 4 A social evening of music and dancing for widows and widowers only, will be held from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Korean Presbyterian Church, 147 Route 130 North in Bordentown.

First day of school
Tuesday, Sept. 6 The first day of the 2005-06 academic year at MacFarland Junior School’s will be a full session. School will begin at 8 a.m. and students are to enter the building and go directly to their home base class. Dismissal is set for 2:57 p.m.

Patriots’ breakfast
Sunday, Sept. 11 The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter NJ 899 will host a breakfast for our soldiers who have been wounded in Iraq and/or are recovering from illnesses as well as those getting ready to be deployed. The breakfast will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Bordentown Township Senior/Community Center on Municipal Drive. The public is invited to meet the soldiers and wish them well.
A minimum donation of $5 per person is requested to help cover costs. Soldiers and their families will be guests. Speakers from the County Veterans Administration, the Township Veteran’s Advisory Committee and others will be featured.

Rally Day
Sunday, Sept. 11 The First Baptist Church of Bordentown, Prince and Church streets, will hold Rally Day featuring a light breakfast and program during the Sunday School hour at 9 a.m.
The First Baptist Church will continue its new concept of teaching Sunday School called the "Workshop Rotation Model" and students in kindergarten through eighth grade will study Biblical themes by rotating classes.
