Lawrence Hopewell Trail Task Force meets Tuesday

The public is invited, but preregistration is required. To register, call Betty Wolfe at 921-0948.

The Lawrence Hopewell Trail Task Force will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 11 at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Route 206, Lawrence Township.
Sheree Davis, New Jersey Department of Transportation Bicycle and Pedestrian Program coordinator, will present DOT’s master plan for improving bicycling and walking facilities throughout the state. Since 1995, DOT has focused on reducing roadway congestion and achieving recreational and health benefits for New Jersey residents by increasing opportunities for non-motorized travel between residential areas and schools, parks, businesses, downtowns, and transit stations. Ms. Davis will report on progress towards these goals.
Following Ms. Davis’ presentation, the Task Force will review construction and planning progress on the Lawrence Hopewell Trail, a 20-mile loop of shared-use pathway that will link parks, schools, and business campuses in Lawrence and Hopewell townships.
The public is invited, but preregistration is required. To register, call Betty Wolfe at 921-0948.
The Lawrence Hopewell Trail Task Force includes representatives from transportation agencies, Mercer County parks, bicycling organizations, and the general public. Representatives of the founding partners of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail Corporation — Lawrence Township, Hopewell Township, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Educational Testing Services, D&R Greenway Land Trust, and Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association — also serve on the Task Force.
