Allaire Village Inc., the nonprofit “Friends” group supporting the educational programming at Historic Village at Allaire, Wall Township, will present the Halloween hayride of the 1830s Howell Works community on Oct. 15 and Oct. 22 from 5:30-9 p.m.
The Halloween hayride starts in front of the general store and enters the foreboding woods for a trip to the Historic Village at Allaire. As the ride travels through the village, guests will meet peculiar individuals and witness mysterious customs. At the bonfire in front of the carriage house, a story teller weaves spooky tales of events from long ago.
The tour guide will take guests to James P. Allaire’s mansion where they may even see the ghost of Frances Allaire. A visit to historic village would not be complete without a trip to the carpenter and blacksmith shops. The general store and bakery will be open and there will be music of the period available for guests’ enjoyment at the Allaire Village chapel.
The cost for the tour is $10 per person. Tickets are limited to 800, so advance purchase is required. Tickets are for sale by phone at (732) 919-3500, have a credit card ready, or by mail. Call the Allaire Village office for an application. Tickets will be held at the box office and can be picked up the night of the event.
