PENNINGTON — Helen C. Johnson died Wednesday at University Medical Center at Princeton. She was 86.
   Born in Trenton, she resided in Princeton for 78 years before moving to Pennington eight years ago.
   She was an official court recorder for the U.S. District Court in Trenton for more than 30 years, retiring in 1985.
   She was a graduate of the Princeton High School and Rider University.
   She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Messiah in Princeton.
   Daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Poeller Walker, wife of the late Lee "Johnny" Johnson, who died in 1974, she is survived by a son, Bryant P. Johnson, of Pennington; daughter Lynne Johnson of Lawrence; and cousin Peg Weber of New Hope, Pa.
   The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington, with the Rev. Dr. John M. Goerss, pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, officiating.
   Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Princeton.
   Visiting hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Frances L. Rossi of Princeton died Tuesday at Merwick Rehab Hospital & Nursing Care. She was 90.
   She was a lifelong resident of Princeton.
   Mrs. Rossi graduated from Princeton High School and attended Rider College. She returned to college later in life and received her degree from Mercer County Community College at age 70.
   She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking for her children and grandchildren, caring for her cats at her home on Snowden Lane and traveling with family.
   She was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church.
   Daughter of the late Nicholas and Marie Antoinette Cevera, wife of the late Louis W. Rossi Sr. and sister of the late Anthony Cevera, Jenny DiMassa and Albert Cevera, she is survived by sons and daughter-in-law John and Ann Rossi of Woodside, Calif., and Louis W. Rossi Jr. of Princeton; daughter Mari Daetwyler of Princeton; sisters and brother-in-law Mary Sculerati of Seaside Park and Catharine and Jack Rhubart of Princeton; grandchildren John M. Rossi, Thomas D. Rossi and Elisabeth C. Rossi, all of Woodside, Calif.; brother-in-law Chauncey Rossi of Princeton; special niece Julia Marcoline of Princeton; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton.
   Interment will follow in Princeton Cemetery.
   Calling hours are 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Ave., Princeton.

Huntington Howard

BEVERLY, Mass. — Huntington Howard died Monday after a brief illness. He was 95.
   Born in Walla Walla, Wash., he later moved with his family to Lynn, Mass., and was a longtime resident of Beverly.
   Mr. Howard graduated from the Essex Agricultural College with a degree as a dairy herdsman. He then worked at the Wethersfield Farm in Danvers, Mass., before taking a job as a machine repairman at the United Shoe Machinery Corp.
   He was well known for his generously shared vegetables and for his passion for music. He played in almost every musical group on the North Shore, including the Rockport Legion Band, the Beer Barrel Band, Bucci’s Lousy Band, Roma Band, Ipswich Legion Band, North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra, Salem Philharmonic Orchestra, Tritown Orchestra, Wakefield Retired Men’s Band and the Danvers Pops. He played at the Danversport Yacht Club Band on Sunday, the day before he died.
   A flute and piccolo player, as many as 14 members of his family played with him at the Yacht Club Band.
   Son of the late Herbert A. and Linda J. Huntington Howard, husband of the late Doris Abbott Standley Howard, brother of the late Herbert Howard, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Carlos Ramos of Puerto Rico, Rebecca Lee of Gloucester, Mass., Trudy and Chet Nibby of Beverly, Mass., Constance and Philip Villanti of Danvers, Mass., and Alice and Robert Campbell of Danvers, Mass.; sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Charles B. and Edith Howard of Montgomery, Daniel and Charlotte Howard of Douglas, Mass., and Jason Howard, with whom he lived with for 30 years, of Beverly, Mass.; sister Muriel Thompson of Auburn, Maine; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; special niece Louise Bouchard; and several other nieces and nephews.
   The funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Beverly, Mass.
   Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Beverly, Mass.
   Visiting hours are 4 to 8 p.m. today at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, Mass.
