Meridian Health, Neptune, will present “Kites Against Cancer” Oct. 23 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Pier Village, Ocean Avenue and Laird Street, Long Branch. The event is in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October.
Interested individuals will fly kites on the beach as a symbol of unity to commit to fighting breast cancer. Kites are $15 for two or $10 for one and will be available at Pier Village the day of the event, or locally at Riverview Medical Center, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank; or 94.3 The Point Studios, 2401 Route 66, Ocean. The free event will also feature hayrides, a costume parade, crafts, a kids’ scavenger hunt and farmer’s market.

Deadline to enter VSA juried art contest Oct. 25
VSA arts of New Jersey (VSA/NJ), New Brunswick, is seeking entries for a juried exhibit at Atlantic City Art Center from December-January, with application deadline Oct. 25. The exhibit will feature the works of artists with disabilities age 18 and older, and artists taking part in the exhibit will have the opportunity to sell works. in ‘Romeo and Juliet’
The Mortalsby Players of the Peddie School, South Main Street, Hightstown, will present “Romeo and Juliet” Nov. 2-5 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8. Red Bank resident Theresa Piazza (class of 2006) will portray Gregory, while Briann Spahn, (class of 2006), Monmouth Beach, will portray Mercutio.
