Walforf School to present craft show

The Waldorf School of Princeton is hosting its second annual Holiday Market Craft Show on Friday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1062 Cherry Hill Road in Montgomery.
Friday evening is devoted to an adults-only preview that includes a mouth-watering meal prepared by Eric Martin of Stanton Catering, formerly with RATS Restaurant. Reservations are being accepted.
The juried show will include hand-crafted toys, dolls, felted items, hand-painted silks, jewelry, wool sculpture and paintings, pottery, baskets, handmade soaps and lotions, hand-woven and hand-knit clothing, handmade cards, and more. The artisan items are one-of-a-kind and eco-friendly, and made with natural materials.
Saturday includes a host of activities for children beginning at 10 a.m. Candle dipping, star folding and a treasure hunt will keep children busy. Parents and children can visit an early childhood classroom to experience a morning in the school. Dancing and other activities, along with wholesome food, will compliment the day.
Puppet shows at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. will feature the Russian fairy tale of Baba Yaga and Philipeka.
At 1 p.m. Saturday, the Stonybrook Morris Dancers will provide entertainment. Morris dancing is a form of folkdance that comes from the Cotswold region in western England, between Oxford and the Welsh border. The dancers usually wear bells at their knees and clash sticks (symbolizing the eternal battle between winter and summer), and the dances have traditionally been performed around the time of major seasonal crosspoints in the calendar.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for the Princeton community to shop for the holidays and find unique items for their family and friends," said Mary Hirsch, director of development for the school. "Saturday includes a menu of activities that the entire family can enjoy, while Friday is the perfect opportunity for adults to select gifts during the relaxing, adults-only preview."
Admission is as follows: Friday, $3 for general admission, $30 with a full gourmet meal and entertainment. (Reservation form can be downloaded from www.princetonwaldorf.org or by calling 609-466-1970, ext. 26). General admission for Saturday is $3; children under 12, are free.
Children’s activities will be featured throughout the day. Parking is free.
