It’s time for voters to make their choices

By: Mae Rhine
It’s been a spirited campaign this year building up to Tuesday’s election.
It’s gotten downright nasty at times with some mudslinging in some of the more hotly contested races such as those in West Amwell and Lambertville.
But it’s down to the wire now and time for folks to make up their minds.
The outcome of Tuesday’s elections has the power to change things dramatically, particularly in West Amwell and Lambertville.
Would those changes be good? That’s up to the voters to decide.
It’s time for all of you to weed through some of the nastiness and get down to the basics.
Which candidate mostly closely mirrors your beliefs? Which candidate do you feel has the experience and commitment to deliver on his or her promises?
Look at the past records of the incumbents. Are you happy with their performance?
If not, would the challenger’s experience, background and ideas fulfill the needs of your community?
It’s tough to make a choice. That’s why it’s important to read what each candidate has said in The Beacon or mailed to your home. If you still have questions, call each candidate and listen carefully to his or her responses.
Get past the rhetoric and vote your conscience. There’s a lot riding on this year’s election.
   Voting is from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in New Jersey and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Pennsylvania.
For residents in Stockton, voting is at the firehouse on Mill Street. In West Amwell, ballots are cast at the municipal building at 150 Rocktown-Lambertville Road.
In Lambertville, voters in the 1st and 2nd Wards will cast their ballots at the YMAC on Wilson Street. Those in the 3rd Ward will vote at the Columbia firehouse on Union Street.
In Pennsylvania, New Hope voters go to the Eagle Fire Company on Sugan Road. In Solebury, those living in the upper portion of the township vote at Carversville Christian Church at 3736 Aquetong Road. Those in the middle section vote at Solebury School. Those in the lower portion cast their ballots at Thompson Presbyterian Church at 1680 Aquetong Road.
