Solebury School sports wrap-up-Nov. 3, 2005

   Solebury School’s boys and girls cross-country teams participated in the Pennsylvania Independent School Cross Country Championships Oct. 30.
   The meet was held at Mercersburg Academy. The girls finished 14th out of 15 schools. Every girl on the team ran her best time.
   Out of 95 runners, Athena Lin of Taiwan was the school’s highest finisher, earning 52nd place with 23:51, Meera Downs of New Hope placed 63rd with 24.19, Blancha Kitchin of Madrid, Spain, placed 71st with 24.31, Nellie Siem of Charlotte, N.C., placed 83rd with 25:23, and Tess Graham of Doylestown placed 86th with 25.36.
   The boys finished 17th out of 19 schools and seventh out of nine schools in the division.
   Out of 127 total runners, Thomas Hedges of Lambertville was Solebury’s highest finisher, earning 34th place with 17:30 and breaking his school record.
   Malcolm Ingram of Philadelphia placed 84th with 19:10, Alex Rice of Princeton placed 114th with 20.41, Justin Harmon of Trenton placed 119th with 21:10, Tom Holmquist of Yardley placed 123rd with 22:23, and Jason Schar of Hellertown placed 125th with 22.27.
   The cross country team dual meet with Perkiomen Oct. 24 earned Solebury a win with the boys scoring 19 to Perkiomen’s 36. The girls received no score because Perkiomen’s only girl dropped out from an injury.
   Hedges placed first, Ingram, second, Harmon, third, and Andre Hines of Denver, Colo., fourth. Rounding out the top 10, Rice placed ninth.
   Although not able to compete, the girls placed as follows: Lin, first, Downs, second, Siem, third, Kitchin, fourth, and Graham, fifth.
   Solebury School’s boys soccer team played three games this week. Oct. 24, it met Plumstead Christian and lost 3-0. Oct. 27, it hosted Girard College at home and again lost 3-0.
   Oct. 28, the team went up against rival Life Center, which resulted in a 1-1 tie. Chris Johnson of Perkasie scored the only goal for the Spartans.
