Several residents reported damage to their houses and vehicles in apparent mischief night incidents Sunday.
The first report to police came at 7:30 p.m. when a Boesel Avenue resident noticed someone threw eggs at the house.
Throughout the night, several other residents noticed their cars or houses vandalized, including a South Main Street resident whose car was struck by eggs. There was no damage to the vehicle.
A North Street resident’s vehicle was spray-painted and a Huff Avenue resident’s house was hit with paintballs. The paintball shooters fled in a small white car; there was no permanent damage to the house.
The Manville Police Department expected some mischief the night before Halloween and prepared by sending officers to patrol the streets.
"We’ve definitely had a worse year," Lt. John Crater said. "We had a lot of officers working that night."
Oct. 30, the night before Halloween, is typically known as mischief night, when children play pranks on their neighbors by either decorating houses and trees with toilet paper or throwing eggs at windows.
