Bear Tavern School dedication event
The official dedication of the Bear Tavern School expansion, funded by 2000 referendum money, took place Oct. 25. The $2.26 million project includes expansion of the cafetorium by 50 percent, a new kitchen, renovated main office (conference room and record storage), conversion of two classrooms into music, practice rooms and the addition of a new 22-space parking lot. Shown at the event are (from left): Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education President Kim Newport, third-grader Sarah Harkness, Superintendent Judy Ferguson, third-grader Sanghoon Park and Principal Bruce Arcurio. In the time capsule to be placed in the cornerstone are current lists of classes and teachers, a DVD chronicling the 2004-2005 school year for one third-grade class, artwork samples and photos of a boy and girl wearing typical fashions of the day.
