Picturesque Cranbury scenes are captured in a calendar.

Picturesque scenes abound in Cranbury, from birds taking flight over a grassy autumn field, to the clear blue reflections in Brainerd Lake.
This year, Janet Paxton, a professional photographer in Cranbury and a freelance photographer for The Cranbury Press, has captured those scenes and preserved them so that they can be enjoyed every day and month of the year.
Ms. Paxton’s photographs are featured in the 2006 edition of the Cranbury Calendar, which is now available for $20.
Some of the colorful photos include the vibrant green crops in a corn field, a brilliant orange sunrise, and snow covered barns.
"It’s a great gift for people wanting to take a little bit of Cranbury with them," said Ms. Paxton.
For the last three years, Michele Hart, a photographer and former Cranbury resident, created the calendar using her photographs. The proceeds of the sale were donated to the Cranbury Arts Council.
Ms. Paxton, a photography friend of Ms. Hart and a member of the Cranbury Business Association, decided to take on the task this year after Ms. Hart moved. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Gourgaud Gallery.
According to Ms. Paxton, the new design of the calendar leaves more room for local Cranbury businesses to advertise.
"It’s a way to help promote the businesses in Cranbury," said Ms. Paxton.
Money collected from the advertisers was used to cover the printing costs. The calendars can be purchased at Charmed by Claire at 60 N. Main St., and Pat’s Décor at 50 N. Main St. They will also be sold at the Golden Ages meeting on Saturday and at the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast on Dec. 4 at the Cranbury School.
Photos in the calendar, as well as other work by Ms. Paxton, can be purchased directly from her by emailing her at [email protected].
