Finding answers not easy

Why is it at a sporting event, all it takes is one or two obnoxious fans to label a whole crowd as being obnoxious?
The student fans from West Windsor-Plainsboro South and Colts Neck were both into last Saturday’s playoff game and generally enthusiastic and creative. But all it takes is a couple of those fans making rude comments at the Colts Neck band, which performed at halftime when the South band bolted before the game even started, to make the Colts Neck contingent head back to the Shore with negative thoughts about WW-P South.
Why is it that after one game, fans are ready to throw in the towel on the Princeton University men’s basketball season?
This is just Joe Scott’s second full season as the Tigers’ head coach. The team starts a freshman and a pair of sophomores (one who wasn’t even in school last year), and has just one senior and one junior who see significant playing time. Yet after a loss to Drexel on Monday night, fans were leaving Jadwin wondering if this was going to be a long season. Two things you can count on this year. One is that Princeton will be a much better team by Feb. 1 than the team that opened the season on Monday. And the other is that Drexel will turn out to be a much better team than people think.
When are we finally going to get to see the old Princeton University coaches come back to Jadwin and play the Tigers?
It’s been in this space before, but it seems only natural that Bill Carmody, John Thompson and Chris Mooney bring their teams to Jadwin Gym for a tournament honoring their mentor Pete Carril. How about a night in December where Joe Scott’s Princeton team plays Carmody’s Northwestern squad, and Thompson brings his Georgetown team in to play Mooney’s Richmond team in the other game. Make sure Carril is around for the doubleheader. And you can be certain Jadwin would be packed. And you can also be pretty certain ESPN would be there for both games.
When is Montgomery High going to be back in Central Jersey where it belongs?
While the new system of classifying schools for the four sections of the state has been positive overall, it’s been pretty lousy for Montgomery. The Cougars are the southern most program in North Jersey, Section 2 Group III. So, this fall the Montgomery soccer teams have had to play state games at Scotch Plains, Millburn and, the topper, Ramsey. Tuesday’s Group III girls’ soccer semifinal was played at Ramsey, a 15-minute ride for Ramapo and nearly two hours for Montgomery. Let’s hope a few schools up North start to shift and eventually Montgomery joins the teams in Central Jersey.
Speaking of Montgomery, isn’t it about time for Johnny Rooney to make that run at political office?
A Montgomery High graduate, Rooney has often been called Mr. Montgomery. He bleeds green. He’s made an impact as a teacher and coach in the school system. Maybe he could do the same on a political level. Then again, maybe he’s smart enough not to get involved in politics.
