A.R.T.space Gallery of Palmer Square, Princeton, announces the opening of "Small Works," a show featuring small paintings and works on paper by the artists of Artistic Realization Technologies (A.R.T.) An opening reception will be held in the gallery on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Recently featured in an exhibition at Princeton University, A.R.T. represents a group of exceptional artists who face severe physical challenges. Using specially developed technologies, A.R.T. has given them means of articulate self-expression through painting, drawing, sculpture and photography. The artwork produced is sophisticated, daring, and charged with passion.
"A.R.T. has brought creative freedom to a segment of society long regarded as incapable of artistic authorship," says Princeton University’s President Shirley M. Tilghman.
Featuring paintings and drawings by more than 20 artists, "Small Works" is a show of immense diversity. From the light-hearted, expressive golden brushstrokes in an untitled painting by Arbena Stevquoah to the structured geometrical icon represented in Latoya Harris’ "Bird," "Small Works" offers a glimpse into the expansive suite of work produced by artists who are shattering stereotypes and embracing the power of art.
A.R.T.space gallery is located at 53 Hulfish St. among the shops of Palmer Square in Princeton. "Small Works" is open to the public and will be on view from Nov. 25 through December. A.R.T.space Gallery is open noon to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
