Let’s be thankful for good fortune, and say a prayer.
This year as Manville families gather around their Thanksgiving dinners, we have much for which to be thankful.
First, with many local residents serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, we are thankful no local servicemen or women have been casualties of the war.
Around the world thousands of families will never again know the joy of gathering for a holiday meal because of the loss of life caused by war.
This Thanksgiving, let’s also be thankful for those servicemen and women who have returned home to their families.
Many in our area will be enjoying Thanksgiving at home after having been separated for long months.
And as thousands of families try to rebuild their lives after the devastation caused by hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico, tornadoes in the Midwest and earthquakes in India and Pakistan, let’s be thankful we’ve been spared these disasters.
The horrifying loss of life in these events is nearly overwhelming. Say a prayer for everyone affected by them.
In New Jersey, we are lucky to be able to limit our concerns to the likes of rising energy prices and congested traffic.
This Thanksgiving, we are enjoying prosperity and safety in a way seldom enjoyed.
Be thankful for that.
On Thanksgiving, we’ll be mindful of how precious our families are.
Let’s remember to think of those who won’t be sharing the meal with all of their family and those who won’t be having a meal to share at all.
