William Presutti to return in temporary, part-time role.

ROOSEVELT The Roosevelt School District has a new albeit temporary and part-time chief.
The Board of Education on Nov. 17 hired William Presutti as its chief school administrator.
The job isn’t new to Mr. Presutti, who held the position along with the principal’s post from 1995 through 1998, before leaving to become superintendent of the Fair Haven School District.
Board President Linda Grayson said Mr. Presutti will remain in his post at Fair Haven and work part time for Roosevelt, which is composed of only one elementary school. He will be paid $6,000 annually, she said.
Mr. Presutti was given a three-year contract but only because state law requires that length as a minimum.
"We are happy that Mr. Presutti will be our CSA as this brings us stability in a time of change," Ms. Grayson said in a prepared statement. "The board views this as a temporary arrangement that provides us the luxury of time needed to further engage the citizens of Roosevelt as we evaluate potential responses to S1701, such as the development of an agreement to share administrative services with another district.
S1701 is a state statute that imposes limits on administrative costs per pupil. Roosevelt’s costs regularly exceed the state cap.
In a phone interview, Ms. Grayson said the district is still exploring an agreement with the East Windsor Regional School District. East Windsor Superintendent Ron Bolandi said last week that he hadn’t heard from Roosevelt in long time. Ms. Grayson indicated that is simply because Mr. Bolandi has had his hands full dealing with construction delays at three schools, which have been blamed by the district on a general contractor.
Ms. Grayson said Mr. Presutti is aware of the short-term nature of the position. In addition to attending all school board meetings, he will monitor and assist in budget preparation, evaluate the principal’s performance and attend some school functions.
