MANVILLE David J. Vaccarella died Nov. 23 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. He was 85.
Born in New York, he had been a lifelong resident of Manville.
Mr. Vaccarella worked as a carpenter for the Somerville Carpenters Union 465 for over 40 years, retiring in 1985.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II during the Normandy Invasion.
A son, David A. Vaccarella, died in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret A. (Buchanec) Vaccarella; a son, Richard M. of Manville; a brother, Robert of San Bernardino, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted Nov. 26 from Fucillo Funeral Home in Manville, followed by a funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
