Around Cranbury: New display at Gourgaud, library has a new financial program and more.
By: Lorraine Sedor
The on-going First Friday Artists’ Reception at the Gourgaud Gallery continues this evening (Friday) from 6 to 8 p.m. with the opening of Cranbury Arts Council’s Cranbury Gardens III Works from Art in the Park.
More than 20 works in varying media rendered by 10 different artists depict scenes from six Cranbury gardens that were featured in the Council’s plein air program.
The exhibit will run until Dec. 23 and is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 3. Items from this exhibit are available for purchase.
In addition to supporting these talented artists, this is a wonderful opportunity to find that perfect holiday gift.
The Cranbury Public Library is considering providing a new financial resource for the public to use within the library, Morningstar.com Library Edition. A comprehensive internet-based investing research database, it is designed especially for use in libraries by individual investors and others interested in obtaining independent information on stocks and mutual funds.
During December, the library will have a trial subscription to Morningstar.com Library Edition available for use on patron computers. Public feedback of this service will be taken into account when making a decision to add this database to the library’s online resources.
Take this opportunity to explore Morningstar.com Library Edition and to help the library determine whether this service would be a good match for CPL patrons.

If by chance you came home with the wrong coat, please contact Historical Society President Carl Helstrom at [email protected], or leave a message at the History Center, 860-1889.

The Cranbury Lions Club will host their annual Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Cranbury School cafeteria.
In addition to the "world’s best pancakes, sausage and coffee," they will again be featuring pictures with Santa (thanks to Lions Roy Reinhardt and Jim Gerberich).
Tickets will be available at the door at $6 per person for adults and $4 for children 10 and under.
The breakfast is one of the Lions’ primary fundraisers and they appreciate one and all joining them for some great food and holiday cheer. Funds raised are used to serve the blind and handicapped as well as for Cranbury projects and events.
Once you’ve had your fill of pancakes and Lions hospitality, stop by the Cranbury Museum for its annual Christmas Tea from 1 to 4 p.m.
Beautifully decorated in the manner of Victorian Christmases past, the Museum will be filled with the delightful scents of fresh-baked cookies and spiced tea and the sound of music played on the 100+ year-old pump organ. And throughout the afternoon, Boy and Girl Scouts will raise their voices and instruments, caroling around town. A great start to the holiday season!
