Cleo M. Atchley
Cleo M. Atchley, 87 of Belle Mead, died Dec. 20 at the Merwick Unit of the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in McConnelsburg, Pa., she had resided in the Harbourton area for 30 years before moving to Belle Mead.
She was a cook at the Pennington Quality Market and formerly at the Hill House in Pennington.
Daughter of the late Paul and Gertrude Strate Houck, she is survived by her husband Clarence L. Atchley; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Richard Goudie of Rhode Island, Peggy and Bob Kennedy of Hillsborough and Carla and Bill Borden of Harbourton; a brother Jack Houck; three sisters, Ester and Charles Atchley, Olive McQuait and Betty Miller; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, Pennington Circle, with the Rev. William Shaub officiating.
Burial will be in Harbourton Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

Philip L. Beardsley
Philip L. Beardsley, 62, of Hopewell Township died Dec. 20 at home of liver cancer.
Mr. Beardsley was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and grew up in Swarthmore, Pa.
He graduated from Oberlin College and earned a doctorate in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He taught American political science and research methodology at Syracuse University, Lehigh University, and The College of New Jersey. For the last 15 years of his career, he directed and conducted research on higher education policy and institutions for the State of New Jersey.
He published two books, edited another in political science and was the author of numerous academic articles, monographs and research reports. He enjoyed music, his cats and Tar Heel basketball.
A son of the late Monroe C. and Elizabeth L. Beardsley, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marguerite; a daughter Laura Beardsley; a son-in-law Max Moeller; a granddaughter Cora Beardsley Moeller of Drexel Hill, Pa.; a brother Mark of Iselin; other family members, friends and feline companions, Ringo, Jimi and Lulu.
