Annual holiday decorating contest and snowman building contest are scheduled for the winter.
The Monroe Township Recreation Department is sponsoring its Annual Holiday Decorating Contest for residents. According to the township, the competition is open to homes and businesses in the township that brighten the neighborhoods with holiday decorations and festive spirit. Judging will take place on Dec. 27, 28 and 29, so leave your lights on. There will be awards presented to winners in both residential and commercial divisions at the Recreation Advisory Board Meeting in January. To enter the contest, call the Monroe Township Recreation Department at (732) 723-5000 and give the name and address of the property that you would like to enter.
In addition, the Monroe Township recreation department will sponsor its annual snowman and snow-sculpting contest, which is open to residents from this month through March. Awards will be presented in April at the Recreation Advisory Board Meeting to participants in the following divisions: 3 to 6 years, 7 to 12 years, teens and up. There will be two categories: original snowman and most original snow sculpture. Entries can be a solo, team or family project.
