MONTGOMERY The township Board of Education approved the school administration’s recommendation to push back the start and end times of the Upper Middle School and Lower Middle School, effective Monday.
Beginning Monday, the Upper Middle School will start at 8:37 a.m., and end at 3:25 p.m. And the Lower Middle School will start at 8:22 a.m., and end at 3:10 p.m.
"We weren’t getting buses over there on time" after the buses dropped off the high school students, Superintendent Stuart Schnur said. "They were getting in a couple of minutes late to the middle schools, especially in the afternoons. So we made the changes."
The board discussed the possibility of changing the times at its most recent meeting. The board wanted to see if the time changes would work with the personnel schedules of those involved with driving the buses, as well as with the people in charge of monitoring the drop-offs and pick-ups of the children at the middle schools before the decision was made official, President Richard Specht said.
"We wanted to finalize better transportation and timing," Mr. Specht continued.
The school times at the middle schools were adjusted to provide a smoother transition in school bus boarding and departure times, the district’s Web site said, and bus schedules will remain the same; the schedule affects the school day only.
