This year, smokers can give their families the best gift ever a smoke-free home.
Montgomery Township Health Department has made arrangements with the Tobacco Quit Center of Hillsborough to sponsor a Smoking Cessation Group Program starting Wednesday, Jan. 11.
The group will meet at the Otto Kaufman Community Center in Montgomery for six Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. The support group sessions will address biological, psychological and social aspects of tobacco addiction.
Reduced-cost nicotine replacement medication will be provided for participants (gum, patches or lozenges). Each participant will receive an individualized assessment (including carbon monoxide screening) before the start of the program.
The cost of this six-week program is $50 for Montgomery Township and Rocky Hill residents. For about the price of a carton of cigarettes, a smoker can get smoke-free forever.
This program is made possible with the support of the Montgomery/Rocky Hill Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse. The alliance reminds parents that quitting smoking now is the best way to keep their children from starting, and it protects them from lung disease, too.
