Edward D. Scharite, Caterina Pata Varone, Stephen Joseph Stefancin Jr.

Edward D. Scharite
   ALLENTOWN — Edward D. Scharite, 54, died Dec. 25 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.
   Born in Yardville, he lived in the Allentown area his entire life. Mr. Scharite was employed as a sheet metal worker for Local 27 in Trenton and served seven years in the Air National Guard. He was an avid hunter, loved to play sports with his children and excelled in track and football.
   He is survived by his three children, Brett Ashley, Derek, and Lisa Scharite; his parents, Frank and Joan Scharite; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Judy Scharite; two nieces, Emily and Paige Scharite; and his longtime friend and companion, Wanda Marsilio.
   A memorial service will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 7 p.m. at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. The Dr. Rev. Edward Conway will officiate.
   Friends may call 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Caterina Pata

Varone
   HAMILTON — Caterina Pata Varone, 79, died Dec. 28 at Bear Creek Assisted Living, East Windsor.
   Born in Calabria, Italy, she resided in Hamilton Square for the past 54 years.
   Ms. Varone was a homemaker most of her life and an avid gardener and cook and enjoyed caring for her family and friends.
   Daughter of the late Anthony and Maria Cocciole Pata and wife of the late Joseph Varone, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Michael Maccarone of Hamilton Square, and Cathy and Keith Collins of Clifton, Va.; two sons, Anthony Varone of Robbinsville and Joseph Jr. of Solebury, Pa.; five grandchildren, Michele and Nicole Maccarone, Jared and Christian Collins and Laura Varone; two brothers, Frank and Savero of Argentina; three sisters, Stella, Francisca and Lena; and many nieces and nephews.
   Funeral was held Tuesday at Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, Hamilton. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, Hamilton. Burial was private.

Stephen Joseph

Stefancin Jr.
   HAMILTON — Stephen Joseph Stefancin Jr., 75, died Dec. 26 at home.
   Born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., Mr. Stefancin had been a resident of the Hamilton and Robbinsville areas for 43 years and was a member of St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, its Holy Name Society and Senior Citizens.
   He was a 1948 graduate of Meyers High School in Wilkes Barre, Pa., and received a bachelor of science degree from Rutgers University in 1962.
   He retired from IBM in 1992 after 30 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard the USS Saipan Around the World Tour as an operations officer and was a member of the admiral’s staff during the Korean War.
   He was a member of the American Legion, VFW #3525 and the USS Saipan CVL-48 Association and enjoyed football, golf, bowling and fishing.
   He is survived by his wife, Anne Harbin Stefancin; a son, Stephen J. Stefancin III; a sister, Ann Radner of Bedminster; two sisters-in-law, Doris Harabin Gliddon and Lorraine Harabin; two brothers-in-law, William Harabin and his wife, Helen, and Daniel Harbin and his wife, Katarina; and nine nieces and nephews.
   Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 30 at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, Hamilton Square. Interment followed in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
