William O. Rarich, 88, died Sunday at Capital Health System, Mercer Campus.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was a former resident of Pennington and had lived in Ewing for 40 years.
A graduate of West Chester State Teacher’s College, Mr. Rarich received his master’s degree from Columbia University and continued his graduate studies at Syracuse University.
Music master at The Pennington School for 33 years and organist-choir director at the Pennington United Methodist Church for 50 years, he also was a colleague in the American Guild of Organists. For many years he was a part-time employee of the Pennington Post Office, and later was employed by Educational Testing Service until his retirement in 1982.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Force.
Son of the late William and Gertrude O. Rarich and father of the late Richard W. Rarich, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth S. Rarich of Ewing; his daughter and son-in-law, Rae Anne and Robert S. Voorhees of Hamilton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Grace P. Rarich of Titusville and Randall S. and Karen N. Rarich of Belle Mead; 14 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Philip Rarich, Steven, Robert, Daniel and Stacy Voorhees, Grace, Katherine, Heidi, Margaret and Rosemary Rarich and Kirsten, Emma and William Rarich; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donors’ choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Mullen Funeral Home, 537 S. Olden Ave., Trenton.
