Tre Piani to host ‘Winter Food Fare’

   On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., food producers, restaurant chefs and musicians will gather to host the first "Slow Food Winter Food Fare" at Tre Piani Restaurant in Forrestal Village, Plainsboro.
   The free event will offer an array of delicacies, including Cherry Grove Farm’s beef, pork, lamb and eggs; Griggstown Poultry Farm’s chicken pot pies; Valley Shepherd Creamery’s sheep and cow’s milk cheese and yogurt; ARC Greenhouses’ baby greens and herbs; The Village Bakery’s artisanal breads and pastries; Terhune Orchards’ cider; Muirhead Farms’ handmade jams and condiments; Oak Shade Farms’ certified organic dried shitake mushrooms; The Bent Spoon’s ice cream and gelato, and Hopewell Valley Vineyards wine. Prepared foods and drinks will also be available for purchase.
   Cooking demonstrations by Jim Weaver, chef-proprietor of Tre Piani Restaurant, and Mario Mangone, chef-proprietor of Chambers Walk in Lawrenceville, will round out the afternoon. Entertainment will be provided by Straight Jazz with John Henry Goldman on keyboards and trumpet.
   The event is being organized by the Lawrenceville Downtown Farmers’ Market; the West Windsor Community Farmers’ Market; Slow Food, Central New Jersey Chapter; the Northeast Organic Farming Association, and the West Windsor Arts Council.
