Six Flags Great Adventure and Wild Safari, Jackson, announced the launch of a 45,000 ticket online giveaway during its opening weekend, March 31 to April 2, to kick off Six Flag’s yearlong 45th anniversary celebration. The anniversary will be marked by new shows, rides, animals and enhanced guest service features throughout the 2006 season.

The first 45,000 people who register on the new Internet Web site, www.sixflags45.com, can sign up for the free opening weekend tickets while supplies last. The ticket admissions will be spread over the entire opening weekend. The Web site also invites families to submit memories from their Six Flags experiences over the years and to share them with others from around the globe.

New to Great Adventure this season is Bugs Bunny National Park, a wilderness-themed children’s area slated to open in early April. Located on the park’s Great Lake, the new area features six rides, an interactive water play feature, Bugs Bunny Wilderness Theater with a high-spirited show for kids, and Looney Tunes Camp Kitchen.

Another new addition to the park is “El Toro,” a hybrid roller coaster that incorporates steel coaster technology into a wooden roller coaster. At 188 feet tall, reaching 70 mph, El Toro ranks among the tallest and fastest wooden roller coasters in the world. Its 4,400 feet of mountainous track includes records for second tallest, fastest and longest drop of all wooden coasters in America and features the world’s steepest drop on a wooden roller coaster – 76 degrees. El Toro, located in the new Mexican-themed area, Plaza del Carnaval, will open later in the spring. The new section will also feature a Mexican restaurant, La Cocina; a marketplace for shopping, El Mercado; and a new family ride, Tango.

New to the Six Flags Wild Safari are many exotic baby animals including lions, antelopes, bison, bear cubs, giraffes, and more.
