Film society launches documentary series

Red Bank’s Freedom Film Society (FFS) is launching a documentary film series, “We Want to Know.”

The new monthly series will present documentary films that cover a wide range of social, political and cultural issues on the last Thursday of each month, beginning March 30.

Screenings begin at 8 p.m. at The Shore Institute of Contemporary Arts (SICA), 20 Third Ave., Long Branch. Admission is $7, $5 for FFS members.

The schedule is:

+ March 30, “Inside Out in the Open,” directed by Alan Roth with a question-and-answer session with Roth to follow, and live musical performances;

+ April 27, Phillip Rodriguez’ double feature with “Mixed Feelings: San Diego/Tijuana” and “Los Angeles Now”;

+ May 25, “Scared Sacred,” directed by Velcrow Ripper;

+ June 29, “The Education of Shelby Knox,” directed by Marion Lipschutz and Rose Rosenblatt.
