Routine stop leads to drug arrest

OCEAN TOWNSHIP – A routine motor vehicle stop on Route 66 led to the arrest on March 19 at 7:12 p.m. of Richard Naimoli, 24, of Tuckerton, a passenger in the car.

According to police, the vehicle was stopped on Route 66 for failure to signal and because the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts. While speaking to Naimoli, Officer Ryan Vaccaro said he observed four bags of heroin on the seat next to him.

Naimoli was placed under arrest and the heroin was taken as evidence. According to police, he was charged with possession of heroin. Further investigation at the scene revealed that Naimoli had two outstanding warrants from Dover Township.

Naimoli was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold Township in default of $1,500 bail as well as $733 on Dover Township charges. The driver was issued traffic summonses and released.
